Opening up about mental health in a face-to-face conversation with a stranger, no matter how qualified, can be so intimidating that it might seem even worse than confronting the problems themselves.
The School Pulse Foundation's mission is to reach every student and break barriers to positive psychology. We recognize the impossible task of school administrators and educators trying to connect with every student. Already teaching full course load, educators are left with little time for personal engagement to possibly build the mental fitness of students. Students crave and need personal engagements. Students gain a majority of their connection to the outside world via their smart phones. Our foundation aims to put positive psychology and mental health expertise at student fingertips. We have found the most effective way to do so is via direct text messaging.
The School Pulse foundation amplifies the efforts of passionate school leaders while helping students connect with trusted adults. We seek to lighten the load of educators and administrators while arming them with actionable information to take pre-emptive action rather than reactive. We seek to put adults and leaders in a posture of preemption to build and save lives rather than reacting to tragedy after the fact. We bridge the divide between online and in-person engagement in this regard.
The School Pulse foundation supports a robust effort to build timely, engaging and bold mental health resources attractive to youth. We support bringing youth voices to their peers with youth discussing how they may have overcome or are dealing with mental health struggles. By bringing the voice of youth to youth, we drive up engagement and positive response.
